2.Insert the "DOS/Utilities/CAD/NT" Drivers disk into the floppy drive, change to the floppy drive (i.e. A:), and type INSTALL.EXE[enter]. This will install the GO95.EXE utility to the hard disk as well as launch the GO95.EXE utility program. Make a note as to where the GO95 utility installs to the hard drive (the default is C:\GO95). This will be needed later in the installation.
3.The install program will automatically run GO95. Once in GO95, select "MONITOR" from the main buttonbar.
4.Select your monitor if it listed. If your monitor is not listed, you will want to select a compatible monitor. Make sure that the resolutions, horizontal scanning frequencies (kHz), and vertical frequencies (Hz) are within (not higher) than the specifications of your monitor manual. Choosing options that are higher than the specifications of your monitor may damage it. (If you are not sure what selection to pick, you may want to contact your monitor manufacturer for assistance.) NOTE:: Do not select the monitor choice "User Defined Monitor". OS/2 will not recognize this selection.
5.After selecting a monitor, choose the "OK" button to save the current configuration. (For further reference to the GO95.EXE utility, please review the Stealth Video User's Guide.)
6.Exit the GO95.EXE utility saving the changes and returning to DOS. To test to see if the changes you had made in the utility have taken effect type DMS.EXE MONITOR. This command should echo the choice you had made for your monitor. If not, rerun GO95.
7.Boot OS/2.
8.As a precaution, turn on the system archives. To do this, right mouse click on the Presentation Manager (or desktop). Select the "Settings" option. Select the Archive tab. Click on "Create Archive at Each System Restart". Make sure that there is a check mark to the left of this option.
9.Open Selective Install. Set OS/2 to the Video Graphics Array (VGA). This should ensure proper installation of the driver. If you are not sure how to do this, please refer the OS/2 Operating System Manual on installing the VGA driver.
10.Close all Windows applications and other installation programs prior to installing
11.Shut down OS/2 and restart the system. This will allow the archives and the VGA to take affect.
Installing the Driver.
----------------------
Note: If you have not done every step in "Preparing for the Installation," please do so now. If this is not done, the installation of the display driver might fail.
1. Open the OS/2 System Folder.
2. Open the Command Prompts folder.
3. Open up either an OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full Screen prompt.
4. Change to the OS/2 directory (i.e. C:\OS2).
5. At the command prompt type ATTRIB -R -S -H SCREEN0*.SYS This step allows the new screen01.sys and screen02.sys to be copied over to this directory later in the installation.
6. Insert "Disk 1 of 2" of the Stealth Video OS/2 v2.1 & v3.0 driver diskette into your 3.5 inch disk drive.
7. Change to the drive containing the OS2 directory. Type CD\.
8. Type MD TEMP to create a temporary directory for some of the files needed for the installation..
9. Type CD TEMP.
10. Insert the Stealth Video OS/2 "Disk 1 of 1" into the floppy drive. Type COPY A:S3VIDEO. This will copy the S3VIDEO file to the TEMP directory.
11. Once the file has been copied you will need to decompress the file. Type UNPACK S3VIDEO. This will copy 4 files before the initial installation procedure begins.
12. Change to your floppy drive (i.e. A:) and type the command S3INST A: C: where A: is your 3.5 inch drive and C: is the location of OS/2. This command will copy items off of "Disk 1 of 2" and eventually ask for "Disk 2 of 2", taking very little information off the second disk.
13. If you are using OS/2 Full Pack (blue box), after S3INST has finished. Type CD OS2\INSTALL.
These steps prevent any errors from occurring later in the installation.
14. Remove the Stealth Video Disk 2 from the floppy drive and perform a shutdown and reboot.
15. After rebooting, open up the OS/2 System Folder, then open the System Setup object
16. Open the Display Driver Install object. Note: You may have to scroll through the window to locate the object.
17. From the Display Driver Install window, select the Primary Display option then click "OK".
18. The Primary Display Driver List will appear. From the list, select the 32 Bit S3 Display Driver. Note: You may have to scroll through the list to locate the entry. When done, press the "OK" button.
19. Another window will appear called Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility. Select "Install Using Display Adapter Utility Program" then click on "OK".
20. You will now be asked for the location of the utility program. The referenced utility program is located in the directory that was created in step #2 of "Preparing for Installation." Type in the path to the GO95 utility. Make sure the extension of ".EXE" is added to the letters "DMS". The completed line will look something like: C:\GO95\DMS.EXE MONITOR. Once this portion is completed, select OK.
The monitor will blank out, flash, and possibly click for about 30 seconds. If the S64MODE utility appears, the word monitor was misspelled.
21. The next window that appears will labeled "OS/2 Device Driver Installation". Insert the Stealth Video OS/2 v2.1 & v3.0 driver "Disk 1 of 2" into the 3.5 inch floppy drive. Select Install. If any files being copied are older than the target files, please select replace.
22. After reading the first disk, insert Stealth Video Disk 2 of 2 and select OK.
Note: If problems occur during this step, make sure that the volume label on the disks read S3 DRV1 for Disk 1 of 2 and S3 DRV2 for Disk 2 of 2. There is a space between the '3' and the 'D'. Refer to the OS/2 manual on how make a volume label for a disk.
23. A window will appear notifying that changes have been made to the system configuration. Select OK.
24. Remove the disk from the floppy drive and perform shutdown.
To Change Resolutions
---------------------
1. Open up the OS/2 System folder.
2. Open up the System Setup object.
3. Locate and open the System object.
4. At the screen page, choose the resolution and color depth that you wish to run in. Once selected, shutdown OS/2 and restart the system. OS/2 should now load the desired mode which you had selected.
The installation is now complete.
